Vision

Red Thread Circle
We will connect in circle, have some teaching with me (Uma Joy) and perhaps from others in the residency.
Recharge
Fill your cup, join in morning café if you choose – nurture you in your way.
Nourish
Your body as well as your creative Muse. Share meals with your sisters, take turns cooking.
Honor the land
With 1.5 acres of land, there are always projects. Connect with Mother Earth as you share in chores. There are beautiful walks and hikes in the area you can take alone or with others.
As the Artist on the land and a facilitator, Uma Joy is available each day to share in morning ‘café’ where we may discuss projects and philosophies.
There is a one hour (minimum) when Uma Joy is in the studio for teaching processes, if requested. Or, she may be there to paint together in community.
You can schedule additional time with Uma Joy if you wish for Chiropractic, “Table to Canvas” process, coaching, etc., at an agreed upon fee.
Your time is free to set up however you wish. You have use of the casita and studio 24/7. You are welcome to take breaks as you wish, meals and snacks as you wish, walks on the property, or in the surrounding areas of nature as you choose.
What is the BIG WHY?
Musing with dear friends helps me become clear again on WHY I do what I do, WHY I offer what I offer, WHY I am wanting to have women here for Artist-in-Residence and so much more.
When I think about offering the Residency program it brings forward that I want women – I want YOU – to have the chance to recharge yourself, to have time to take a breath and understand what is important to you, to explore what you want in your precious life. I want YOU to KNOW that YOU and YOUR LIFE are precious. I don’t think we all need to do BIG things. We get to know, be, and hold OUR PIECE of the Red Thread. I want to hold the space for you to explore you when you are ready to do so.
So often we get caught up doing all the things we think we are “supposed to” do that we don’t take the time to do what feeds our soul – or even know what that would be if we had the time.
As women come to this land and share this space, I feel “lit-up” just thinking about the possibilities; the possibilities for them and the community they’ll return to; the possibilities arising as community gathers here; the possibilities of the creations happening here – woman exploring, sharing, and expanding. I know transformations happens, awakening happens, and turning on to life happens!
One of the greatest things being called for, in this world we call home, is an increase in love, joy, connection, community, kindness, and healing. When we create, when we take time for ourselves, when we take time to S—L—O—W D—O—W—N we have the opportunity to discover the Truths of who we are, what we want, and how we CHOOSE to live our lives. That’s when then these interactions of love, joy, kindness, connection… are able to come forward.
This is what the Artist-in-Residence program means to me. I KNOW that having this time for you can be amazingly life-changing.

What are the Details?
The studio is a 600 square foot space that accommodates 15-17 artists. However, the Residency program is limited to 5 artists maximum.
There are several dates available for Residencies. Once you apply, we can finalize dates.
We have 2 private rooms with a shared bathroom in a lovely casita.
A travel van, or similar, can be parked on the land and have use of bathroom and kitchen facilities.
You provide your own canvasses, brushes, special supplies or tools you require. The studio supplies easels, tables, water containers and additional supplies on hand if the need arises.
You purchase your own food and have the opportunity to cook together or separately. You have full use of kitchen, condiments, and staples in cabinets.
The group collaborates on meals, takes turns cooking and cleaning up. Everything needed for cooking is provided (guests provide their own food. Local shopping available.)

It is requested participants collaborate on land chores. (30-60 minutes per day)
Enjoy the hot tub and watch billions of stars above – or to experience the sweet morning sunrise.
Weeks start on Mondays at 1 pm. Flights come into Albuquerque, Santa Fe , and a few flights come directly to Taos.

The Rio Grande is close by with beautiful hikes along it.
Depending on the season, you may find peaches, pears, apples, apricots, plums, berries and more at Tierra Luminosa.

After you submit your application, I will schedule a call with you. At that time, we can discuss possible dates and financial options.

Initial Vision
Ever since spirit directed us to this land we call home, and my dear son (and other loved ones) dedicated the time to help build a studio for me, I’ve wanted to share this space and experience with you. As a part of MUSEA (my Intentional Creativity® art community founded by Shiloh Sophia with our home base "Mothership" in Sonoma, California) I have affectionately called this studio “MUSEA Taos” – aka “Uma Joy Healing Art.”
Since the completion of the studio in July 2023, we have held retreats, workshops, coaching sessions, and one-on-one Table to Canvas sessions (personalized coaching and therapy incorporating Chiropractic, CranioSacral Therapy and painting to access healing in a different way).
I have created my own art, painted with my granddaughters, shared potlucks, and so much more in this beautiful space facing the powerful and spiritual energy of Taos Mountain.
You are invited to come for a time to develop your art and vision here at MUSEA Taos on the land we call “Tierra Luminosa.”
We offer a minimum week-long Artist Residency at MUSEA Taos, with the option of a two week stay. A vacation for You – and a vacation for your Muse.
